Summary

The different heat or cold sources of a heat pump in a residential building were studied with their characteristics: water, ground, outdoor air, exhaust air. Some criteria to select the required equipment are indicated. Recommendations for the size of machines are given. The purpose of reversibility for comfort is outlined. Heat distribution can be carried out by air (outdoor: all fresh air, mixture outdoor and exhaust air: double flux) or water (radiators, fan-coil units, heating panels). The supply of hot tap water by a heat pump was not quite satisfactory. Rules are given for the incorporation of equipment. Supplementary heat input was studied. The controls must give priority to thermodynamic heating. The problems of heat pump use are mentioned. A list of the solutions currently proposed by the manufacturers is given.
