Summary

EXHAUSTIVE INVESTIGATIONS AND GREAT EFFORTS AIMED AT REDUCING OIL CONSUMPTION ARE NOW BEING MADE IN SWEDEN. THE SWEDISH PARLIAMENT HAS DECIDED TO COMPLETE A TOTAL OF TWELVE NUCLEAR POWER STATIONS. A SUBSTANTIAL SURPLUS OF ELECTRICITY IS EXPECTED WHEN THESE ARE COMMISSIONED. SWEDEN HAS MANY LAKES, EFFLUENTS AND SEA WATER WHICH COULD BE EXPLOITED AS HEAT SOURCES BY HEAT PUMPS. AN ACCOUNT OF PRESENT AND FUTURE ENERGY DISTRIBUTION IN SWEDEN IS GIVEN, AND ALSO OF THREE HEAT PUMP INSTALLATIONS NOW OPERATING OR UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN THE CITIES OF FINSPONG, STOCKHOLM AND KARLSHAMN.
