Heat transfer and pressure drop during evaporation of R22 in micro-fin tubes.

Summary

The heat transfer and pressure drop performance of two micro-fin tubes were measured for evaporation of R22 in the tubes. The test apparatus has a straight, horizontal test section with a length of 3.0 m and micro-fin tubes with outer diameters of 5 mm. The R22 evaporation temperature varied from 6.8 to 7.1°C with inlet qualities of 20% and outlet temperatures of 12°C. The mass flux was between 200 and 450 kg/m2s. The variation of the evaporation rate and the pressure drop in the micro-fin tubes was measured as a function of refrigerant mass flux and the helix angles. The data were presented as the average heat transfer and pressure drop for the entire tube length.
