Summary

An experimental investigation about the heat transfer performance (HTP) of two micro-fin tubes was carried out with an inner enhanced heat transfer experimental apparatus. Double-pipe condensers were used in the test, with refrigerant R134a in inner-micro-fin tubes and a glycol solution outside the tube. Heat transfer performance (HTP) and pressure drop in two tubes were obtained by data processing and analyzing. The structures of two tubes were measured with metallographic microscope and the micro-fin structure influence on condensation heat transfer and pressure drop was also analyzed. The paper analyzes the correlation of Cavallini with pure refrigerant inner condensation. Based on Cavallini’s formula, a modifying factor ratio of fin pitch and groove width is proposed to enhanced fin factor, and finally, a modified inner condensation heat transfer formula is proposed. Experimental data fits in very well with the modified Cavallini formula, and the error margin is under 10%.
