Heat transfer characteristics of inclined circular fin-tube heat exchangers.

Author(s) : LEE M., KANG T., JUNG H., et al.

Summary

The objective of this study is to provide the air-side heat transfer characteristics of inclined circular fin-tube heat exchangers used as evaporators in household refrigerators. In this study, inclined circular fin-tube heat exchangers were investigated by varying the fin pitches and the number of tube rows. Air-side heat transfer correlations for the inclined circular fin-tube heat exchangers were developed as a function of the Reynolds number, number of tube rows, and dimensionless fin pitch and hydraulic diameter (F/Dh). The predicted j-factors of the inclined circular fin-tube heat exchangers showed good agreement with the measured j-factors within a mean deviation of 6.02%. In addition, the present correlations were developed for a specific condition: number of tube rows= 1-5, fin pitch= 5.0-12.5 mm, and Reynolds number= 340-1050 and were compared with those of Kim (2004) and Wang et al. (2000).
