Heat transfer systems for stored solid CO2 in refrigerated transport.

Author(s) : PANOZZO G., MINOTTO G., DRAGANO A., et al.

Summary

Some experiments about the efficiency of a container of solid CO2 in an insulated little container have been carried out at ITC CNR in Padova, in the test program related to the refrigerated transport systems. The heat exchange mechanism was demonstrated very poor. Some new containers for the storage of the solid CO2 was designed and tested. The aim was to increase the heat transfer coefficient of the system, using, in the meantime, some tight containers in order to reduce the water condensation rate, and using a different design of the bottom of the container in order to increase the conductive-convective mechanism of the heat transfer.
