ENERGY IN THE USA IS NOW IN SHORT SUPPLY AND EXPENSIVE ; ENERGY PRICES ARE RISING AT THE RATE OF 10% PER YEAR, WHICH HAS LED TO GREAT ENERGY CONSERVATION ACTIVITY AND MODERNISATION OF EXISTING HEVAC INSTALLATIONS. THE PRESSURE TO AVOID PEAK ELECTRICITY LOADS IN THE USA IS GREAT, LEADING TO HIGH ON-PEAK OFF-PEAK TARIFF DIFFERENTIALS, SO THAT ICE STORES FOR ENERGY STORAGE IN THE SUMMER ARE POPULAR.
