Author(s) : HAUKAS H. T.

Summary

PLATE-TYPE EVAPORATORS, DESIGNED FOR WATER FILM FLOW, EQUIPPED WITH SMALL RECTANGULAR CHANNELS FOR THE VERTICAL UPWARDS FLOW OF THE REFRIGERANT PROVED THEIR EFFICIENCY FOR COOLING WATER TO ITS FREEZING POINT. THEIR DRAWBACKS IS SPACE TAKEN. A MORE COMPACT STRUCTURE, WITH ALMOST THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS, WAS BUILT, USING SQUARE TUBES IN A VERTICAL SHELL AND TUBE EVAPORATOR. WITH A NATURAL CIRCULATION OF R22, THE OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER REACHED 1,500 W/M2 K.
