Summary

This special issue of the Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Physics is devoted exclusively to the field of high temperature superconductors. Twenty-one papers are included on the following topics: theory; materials and physical properties; characterization and electronic structures; and thin films and devices, such as: nature of Fermi surface in cuprate superconductors; high Tc superconducting films prepared by aerosol deposition; transport, optical properties and superconductivity in Bi-and Tl systems; luminescence in high Tc superconductors; high Tc superconductor surface and interfaces by XPS and STM spectroscopies; high Tc superconducting thin films: issues of epitaxy, interfaces, doping and electrical transport.
