Summary

Technical periodicals have played a key part in the development of the field. In 1894, H. Lorenz started the first periodical on refrigeration, which was devoted especially to problems of thermodynamic research. This "Zeitschrift für die gesamte Kälteindustrie" became the leading journal on refrigeration in Germany and achieved an international following.
