Summary
Sales of ethnic foods in the UK have increased tremendously over the past decade. Between 1990 and 1996, sales grew by 108% to GBP 520 million. Sales of Indian foods are estimated to be currently worth GBP 133 million. Chinese ready meals are in second place with GBP 75 million. Mexican ready meals, which have been promising to lift off for so long, are now worth GBP30 million, and cuisines like Thai, Indonesian and Malay are rapidly attracting consumer interest.
