How to operate LNG terminals with flexibility/safety despite the diversification of unloaded LNG qualities.

Summary

Gaz de France has completed a small-scale experimental study on the behaviour of stratifications in industrial LNG storage tanks, including specific investigations on the thick interface separating the two layers. The development of a predictive model has revealed phenomena of particular interest in the management of industrial LNG storage tanks. In this paper, the main R&D results on LNG stratification behaviour are presented and their application to on-site management of LNG stratifications is highlighted.
