Reception and mixing of different qualities of LNG in storage tanks.

Summary

The authors carried out a series of experiments using a real LNG tank to determine what would happen if LNG of different densities were fed into the same tank. Using the results obtained from these experiments, they developed a jet model-based simulation model. This enabled them to make a quantitative evaluation of the changes in density distribution that take place inside the tank under a variety of different conditions. Tokyo Gas intends to use this model to realize more efficient use of its in-ground LNG tanks in future.
