HVAC development challenge in the 21st century.

Author(s) : NOVAK P.

Summary

The paper deals with the possible future development of HVAC equipment and systems on the basis of accepted EU Directives on the energy use in buildings, energy efficiency and environmental issues. Starting with the expected changes in the building sector (high thermal quality of new building envelopes, renovation of existing building stock) and mass introduction of IT in the buildings, many technical changes can be expected in the near future. In the paper, the possible developments of heating (low temperature), cooling (high temperature) and air conditioning (clean air, heat recovery, low velocity, fresh air ventilation) equipment and systems are discussed. Special attention is given to the local air conditioning with regard to the energy efficiency and visual environmental impact. The influence of the globalization economies on new equipment and design application velocity is discussed in general.
