Author(s) : DURRER M., MI-SKOVA V., CHRZ V.

Summary

IN 1986 A PLANT FOR HYDROGEN PRODUCTION FROM COKE-OVEN GAS WASPUT INTO OPERATION. THE PRODUCTION USES PARTIAL CONDENSATION AT LOW TEMPERATURE WITH PURIFICATION, BY WATER ABSORPTION, OF BENZENE AND CYCLOHEXANE. HEAT LOSSES ARE COVERED BY A HYDROGEN EXPANSION TURBINE AND BY THROTTLING. FOR THE CALCULATION OF EQUILIBRIUM DATA FOR MULTICOMPONENT MIXTURES THE MODIFIED BWR EQUATION OF STATE WAS USED. THE PURITY OBTAINED IS 96-98 MOL% HYDROGEN. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE IS 67 K, IE ABOUT 5 K ABOVE THE FREEZING OUT OF THE SOLID PHASE OF THE GAS.
