[In Japanese. / En japonais.]
Author(s) : HASEGAWA S.
Type of article: Article
Summary
THE SKATING RINK CONSISTS OF A 30 X 86 M ICE HOCKEY RINK ENCIRCLED BY A 15 X 400 M SPEED SKATING OVAL. THE RINK WAS COMPLETED WITH THE MOST UP-TO-DATE TECHNOLOGY USING SPECIALLY DESIGNED ICE ROLL PANELS PROVIDED WITH ABOUT 9 MM OD COOLING COILS. THE ICE PANELS ALLOW THE RINK TO BE LAID OUT IN THE SHORTEST POSSIBLE TIME OF 100 DAYS. WHEN THE SKATING SEASON IS OVER THE PANELS CAN BE QUICKLY TAKEN UP AND THE SPACE USED FOR OTHER PURPOSES. THE COMPRESSOR UNIT IS DIRECTLY DRIVEN BY A DIESEL ENGINE, GIVING ENERGY SAVING OF APPROXIMATELY 50% COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL MOTOR-DRIVEN UNITS.
