Impact of environmental concerns on refrigerator-freezer designs.
Author(s) : RADERMACHER R.
Summary
To reduce the impact of domestic refrigerators on the environment, the use of environmentally safe refrigerants and extensive energy savings present considerable design challenges. Two examples of energy saving refrigeration systems are presented with detailed experimental results. It is shown that a dual loop system will potentially show energy savings of more than 20% if more efficient small compressors became available. In a second example, a combination of energy saving measures together with a Lorenz-Meutzner refrigeration cycle show savings in the range of 50%.
