Summary

PBS salt concentration increased by 25% and EFS (ethylene glycol, ficoll and sucrose) medium was used for vitrification of 1-, 2- and 8-16 cell rabbit embryos. The viability of cryopreserved embryos was assessed by their ability to develop to hatched blastocyst in culture or birth of normal young after transfer into synchronized recipients. The results showed the positive effect of increased PBS (phosphate buffer solution) salt concentration on in vitro and in vivo viability of vitrified 8-16 cell rabbit embryos.
