In vitro conservation of horticultural species.
Author(s) : ENGELMANN F.
Type of article: Periodical article
Summary
For horticultural species produced in vitro, medium or short term storage is possible. For medium term storage various routine techniques are used, notably temperature and light intensity reduction, and possibly modifications to the culture medium. For long term storage, cryopreservation (storage at liquid nitrogen temperature -196 deg C) is presently the only available technique. However, its routine use is unusual.
