Summary

Outdoor-grown potted cv. Marsh trees with mature fruits were subjected to successive 7-day exposures to 25, 20, 15, 10 and 5 deg C, followed by 7 days at 25 deg C, in controlled-environment rooms at 60% relative humidity. At the end of the trial, most of the fruits on the trees exposed to this regime had surface pits, but no pits were observed on the fruits of control trees (kept at 25 deg C throughout). Some of the chill-injured fruits abscised during the week at 25 deg C.
