Author(s) : HAËNTJENS H., SAPPA F.
Type of article: Article, Case study
Summary
With regard to cooling equipment, the industry often uses direct ammonia systems, despite strict legislation and constraints. The indirect systems do support their case however as they allow, in many instances, to overcome the regulations which are viewed as difficult to address. The examples in this case file prove that is is possible to use liquid coolers which transport chilled water for many processes. It is a choice that many clients opt for. Themes covered: ice and ammonia for a chilled water system; maintaining 12 °C for the manufacture of rubber; ice slurry: a promising technology.
