Summary

LIQUID NITROGEN IS USED WITH VARIOUS COOLED MATERIALS IN ORDER TO OBTAIN SHRINKAGE, CONDENSATION AND EMBRITTLEMENT EFFECTS. SOMETIMES, THE TRANSIENT STAGE MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO WORK THE MATERIAL UNDER SPECIAL CONDITIONS: CRYOFORMING OR CRYOBENDING OR CRYOHARDENING. THE ADVANTAGE OF LIQUID NITROGEN IS THE REFRIGERATING CAPACITY INSTANTLY AVAILABLE AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE LEVELS. AMONGST THE APPLICATIONS, THERMOCONTROL OR VACUUM METALLIZATION, EXTRUSION-BLOWING OF HOLLOW MATERIALS OR GROUND FREEZING CAN BE NUMBERED. THE USE OF LIQUID NITROGEN IS SAFE AND THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR SOME USES, SUCH AS GRINDING UNDER A CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE.
