Summary

THE DUTCH STANDARD FOR TESTING AIR COOLERS, NEN 1876, GIVES A DESCRIPTION OF THE PERFORMANCE OF AIR COOLERS UNDER FROSTING CONDITIONS. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO JUDGE THE AVERAGE COOLING PERFORMANCE AND COP DURING THE COOLING PERIOD AND DEFROSTING PERIOD. FOR THIS PURPOSE, 2 DIMENSIONLESS NUMBERS WERE DERIVED, WHICH MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE, BY USING COMPUTER MODELS, THE OPTIMUM COOLING PERIOD BEFORE DEFROSTING STARTS.
