Summary
The viscosity of the aluminium nano-suspensions, composed with aluminium nanoparticles, dispersant and water, is a base data on investigating the rule of the flow and heat transfer. The viscosity of water with aluminium nanoparticle suspensions was measured using capillary viscometers. The mass fractions of aluminium nanoparticles in the experiment, varied between 0.04 and 0.16%, and the temperature range was 30 to 70°C. The experimental results showed that the temperature and SDBS concentration were the major factors affecting the viscosity of the nanoparticle suspensions, while the effect of the mass fraction of Al on the viscosity was not as obvious as that of the temperature and the dispersant for the mass fraction chosen in the experiment. The apparent viscosity of the aluminium nano-suspensions decreased with the temperature increase, and increased slightly with increasing the mass fraction of SDBS dispersant, and almost keep invariability with increasing the mass fraction of Al. The influence of SDBS concentration on the viscosity of nano-suspension was found to be relatively large compared with that of the nanoparticle concentration.
