Summary

To ensure food safety, consumers must extend professionals action with some hygiene practices and food preservation. In that capacity, the information on food labeling, especially the expiry dates and storage instructions, are useful for the consumer from a safety and an economic point of view. Although education and awareness campaigns are leaded in Europe and significantly in United-Kingdom, many consumers do not understand the meaning of these information and/or grant them importance they need. Therefore, the authors tried to identify which actors could help the consumer to use and understand the information on the label in the best way.
