Summary

The diffusion coefficient in elastomeric foam, as a function of temperature, is discussed in the light of recent studies and available knowledge, together with test results. Temperature dependence in the range from 5 to 35 deg C can be presented by the Arrhenius law, and the Glaser model makes it possible to calculate the quantity of water-vapour diffused through insulation in a given time. The alms of an EC harmonisation process are discussed and the CEN committees whose activities are directed to normalising pipe insulation standards, are mentioned.
