Summary

A REPORT ON RESEARCH UNDERTAKEN AT THE MOSCOW INSTITUTE OF APP LIED BIOTECHNOLOGY ON IMPROVING ELECTRO-CONVECTION COOLING OF HEAT-EXCHANGE SURFACES IN THE CONDENSERS OF SMALL COMPRESSION REFRIGERATORS. THE METHODS USED FOR STUDYING EXTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGE (ON A SURFACE OF 0.94 M2 ) AND AIR-FLOW SPEED ARE GIVEN. DATA ARE GIVEN ON TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION ON AN EVAPORATOR SURFACE AS A FUNCTION OF ELECTRICAL CAPACITY, AS WELL AS ON THE EFFECT OF ELECTRO-CONVECTION COOLING ON THE DENSITY OF HEAT FLOW (THE HEAT-FLOW RATE IS 14-44% GREATER THERE THAN WITH NATURAL-CONVECTION COOLING OF THE CONDENSER). WITH ELECTRO-CONVECTION COOLING, THE EXTERNAL HEAT-FLOW RATE CAN BE INTENSIFIED 1.2 TO 4.9 TIMES, THE COEFFICIENT OF OPERATING TIME FALLS BY 1.2 TO 1.6 TIMES, AND ELECTRICITY COSTS OVER 24 HOURS FALL BY 18 TO 36%.
