INTERFERENCE OF FORMALDEHYDE IN THE TBA TEST IN FISH MUSCLE PRODUCING DIMETHYLAMINE DURING FROZEN STORAGE.

Author(s) : CARECHE M., TEJADA M.

Summary

STUDY OF THE INTERFERENCE OF FA IN THE TBA TEST IN ORDER TO EXPLAIN SOME INCONSISTENT RESULTS. AN INTERFERENCE OF FA IS OBSERVED IN THE TBA PROCEDURE, DUE TO THE OCCURRENCE OF TURBIDITY OR TBA CONDITIONS MAY BE LIMITATING BECAUSE OF THE DECREASE IN OPTICAL DENSITY TO 532 NANOMETERS. THE PRESENCE IN FISH OF MATERIALS REACTING WITH TBA AND GIVING NO READING AT AN OPTICAL DENSITY OF 532 NANOMETERS MAY INTERFERE IN THE VALUE OF THE TBA TEST.
