Investigation of mechanical solidity of organic insulation materials after reactor irradiations at 4 K.

Summary
The incorporation of the plasma in future fusion reactors will be realised with magnetic fields, produced by superconducting rings. As it is known that the mechanical properties of insulants are particularly sensible to radiations, the influence of ionizing radiations on the solidity of different possible insulants were studied by a systematic investigation. All these radiation tests were carried out at a temperature of 4 K in the low temperature radiation system of the research reactor in Munich.
