Summary

The hybrid auto-cascade refrigeration system with an integrated ejector cooling cycle (HACRS) driven by high-grade power and low-grade heat simultaneously is concerned in this paper. The working fluid applied in this system is a zeotropic refrigerant mixture R23 and R236fa. This cycle could save the use of high-grade electric energy or mechanical energy by utilizing a low-grade heat driven
ejector, and improve the energy efficiency by recovering exhaust waste energy of the compressor. The variation tendency of the system performance (including entrainment ratio, generator temperature and COP) are theoretical evaluated by means of changing
the components ratio of refrigerant mixtures, environment temperature, compression ratio, pressure ratio of ejector and distillation concentration (meaning the mole fraction of R23 on the top outlet of gas-liquid separator). According to the calculation results, the mechanical coefficient of performance in novel system is about 3 times higher than the conventional auto-cascade refrigeration cycle (CARC), in other words, the energy consumption in compressor of HACRS could be reduced by 3/4.
