Summary

NIOBIUM-SILICON IS PREDICTED TO HAVE THE HIGHEST SUPERCONDUCTING CRITICAL TEMPERATURE T OF ALL KNOWN A15 COMPOUNDS, BUT IT CAN ONLY BE PREPARED BY NON-EQUILIBRIUM METHODS AND RESULTING T VALUES ARE DISAPPOINTING. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ON NIOBIUM-SILICON PREPARED BY A VARIETY OF METHODS ARE REVIEWED. BY ANALOGY WITH NIOBIUM-GERMANIUM IT IS ARGUED THAT T FOR STOICHIOMETRIC FULLY ORDERED A15 NIOBIUM-SILICON SHOULD BE 25 K.
