Summary

When 417 varieties from 17 countries and 68 F1 hybrids (obtained by polycross or open pollination techniques) were stored for 220-240 days, varieties suitable for prolonged cold storage were identified. The polycross technique was highly effective in increasing the keeping quality of the roots. The production of synthetic populations with good storage quality was also effective. The best varieties for keeping quality were Rouge Géante 2474. Karsunskaya Uluchshennaya, Winter Perfection and Kinko Chantenay.
