Kinetics and modelling of calcium chloride-ammonia reactions.

Cinétique et modélisation des réactions chlorure de calcium-ammoniac.

Summary

The kinetics of the formation of calcium chloride-(4)ammonia and calcium chloride-(8)ammonia are studied, using a unique experimental method. The results show that both reactions are driven by identical singular mechanisms revealed by a change of kinetics from diffusional to chemical behaviour, depending on whether the reactions are performed with a small or a large thermodynamic driving force. The modelling of these reactions, based on the identification and phenomenological representation of these singular kinetic phenomena reproduces precisely the experimental results. An interpretation of this behaviour is proposed.
