Summary
A dedicated production facility for spherical LNG tanks has been opened at Kvaerner Masa's Turku shipyard (to cut the cost of tank fabrication). Multi-plated flat panels are made before heat-die forming to create large and dimensionally accurate spherical segments which are then welded using new single sided, one-pass technology.
