Latest progress in absorption refrigerating engineering.

Author(s) : FOERSTER H.

Summary

With ammonia being recognised as an environmentally friendly refrigerant, the case for absorption refrigeration becomes more popular. It is particularly applicable where refrigeration duty is large and continuous, a waste heat source is available and long life is needed. To this end, the author reports on a number of improvements in industrial absorption cycles, such as the use of better absorber design, 2-stage absorption, better heat exchange within the cycle, new rectifier and subcooler designs. Examples are shown. D.W.H.
