Summary

X-RAY RESULTS ON THE LATTICE PARAMETERS, MOLAR VOLUME AND THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENTS OF SOLID ORTHODEUTERIUM FOR THE REGION FROM 2 K TO THE MELTING POINT ARE REPORTED. THE THERMAL EXPANSION OF ORTHODEUTERIUM CRYSTALS IS ESSENTIALLY ANISOTROPIC NEAR THE MELTING TEMPERATURE. SOME THERMODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF ORTHODEUTERIUM ARE CALCULATED AND TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCES OF HEAT CAPACITY AT CONSTANT VOLUME, ISOTHERMAL COMPRESSIBILITY AND GRUNEISEN CONSTANT ARE ANALYZED.
