Summary
The USA Society of Automotive Engineers have produced a new standard covering refrigerant leak detectors and their use on automobile air-conditioning systems. The detector is to be capable of detecting a leakage rate of as small as 1.42 g/year. Service organizations are advised to use only approved detectors and are warned that cleaning a system with a solvent before testing may affect the accuracy of detection. D.W.H.
