LIQUID DESICCANT FOR RESIDENTIAL APPLICATIONS.

Summary

A RESIDENTIAL DEHUMIDIFIER USING LIQUID LITHIUM CHLORIDE DESICCANT TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN DEVELOPED. THE DEHUMIDIFIER CAN SUPPLY ONE TON OF PURELY LATENT COOLING TO A RESIDENCE, CAN PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT OPERATING COST SAVINGS OVER CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ELECTRIC DEHUMIDIFICATION, IS GAS-POWERED, AND HAS BEEN EVALUATED BOTH IN THE LABORATORY AND IN THE FIELD. THE DEHUMIDIFIER IS INTENDED FOR OPERATION WITH A CONVENTIONAL ELECTRIC VAPOUR COMPRESSION SYSTEM, WHICH WOULD HANDLE ONLY THE SENSIBLE LOADS OF THE RESIDENCE. THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE BASIC OPERATING PRINCIPLES OF THE DEHUMIDIFIER, SHOWS THE LAYOUT OF THE DEVELOPED SYSTEM, AND PROVIDES THE RESULTS OF LABORATORY PERFORMANCE TESTING.
