Pool boiling from enhanced tubes in propane.

Summary

At IKE experiments with enhanced tubular heat transfer surfaces in the pool boiling mode are carried out with working fluid propane at saturation temperatures ranging from 263 to 293 K. GEW A-K and GEW A-PB tubes of Wieland Metallwerke, Ulm, Germany are tested in single tube configuration and in mini-tube bundle (2 tubes in-line) configuration, respectively. A single smooth tube is used for reference. The design of the test rig allows visualization of the boiling phenomena and the two-phase flow from the heat transfer surfaces. Results are given.
