Summary

A THEORETICAL STUDY IS MADE ON THE AC LOSS IN MULTIFILAMENTARY SUPERCONDUCTING WIRES SUBJECTED TO MAGNETIC-FIELD PULSES WITH LARGE AMPLITUDES. FOR A SLOW SWEEP-RATE THE EFFECTS MAKE THE SATURATION CONDITION SHIFT TO THE SIDE OF SMALLER AMPLITUDE OF THE APPLIED FIELD, SO THAT THE SATURATION CONDITION APPROACHES TO A USUAL OPERATION CONDITION OF PULSE MAGNETS. GENERAL FEATURES OF THE AC LOSS ARE SHOWN ON THE CONTOUR MAPS, INCLUDING THE DEPENDENCES OF THE WIRE PARAMETERS.
