LOW TEMPERATURE CONSERVATION OF HYBRIDOMA, PLASMOCYTOMA CELL LINES AND CORNEA WITH POLYETHYLENE OXIDE-400.

Summary

THIS STUDY INVESTIGATED THE USE OF PEO-400 AS A CRYOPROTECTOR IN THE LOW TEMPERATURE CONSERVATION OF HYBRIDOMA AND PLASMOCYTOMA CELL LINES AS WELL AS CORNEA. THE VIABILITY OF THAWED HYBRIDOMA AND PLASMOCYTOMA CELLS DEPENDS STRONGLY UPON THE PERCENTAGE CONTENTS OF PEO-400 IN THE CRYOPROTECTING MEDIUM. IT WAS ESTABLISHED THAT THE OPTIMUM CONCENTRATION OF THE CRYOPROTECTOR PEO-400 WAS IN THE RANGE 5 TO 8%. P EO-400 WAS ALSO FOUND TO BE AN EFFECTIVE CRYOPROTECTOR IN SUCCESSFUL CRYOCONSERVATION OF THE EYE CORNEA FOR THE CREATION OF CORNEA BANK. C. B.
