DERMOEPIDERMAL GRAFTS ARE APPLIED AS BIOLOGICAL DRESSINGS OR AS TEMPORARY SKIN SUBSTITUTES FOR THE TREATMENT OF BURNS. IN BIOLOGICAL DRESSINGS, VIABLE OR NON-VIABLE ALLOGENIC OR XENOGENIC GRAFTS CAN BE USED SUCCESSFULLY. IN CASE OF TEMPORARY GRAFTS ONLY VIABLE ALLOGENIC ONES CAN BE USED. THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE TWO METHODS FOR CRYOPRESERVING SKIN: CONTROLLED FREEZING FOLLOWED BY STORAGE IN LIQUID NITROGEN AND UNCONTROLLED FREEZING IN A MECHANICAL FREEZER AT 203 K (-70 DEG C). THE FIRST METHOD IS INTENDED FOR THE STORAGE OF ALLOGENIC GRAFTS, THE SECOND FOR THE STORAGE OF PIG DERMOEPIDERMIC GRAFTS.
