Summary

The paper describes the results of magnetic irreversibility measurements on high-critical temperature yttrium-based superconducting samples. The numerical analysis of measured minor hysteresis loops has been performed from which the critical-current density was established according to a new method. From flux creep experiments the pinning potential and activation energy have been determined. Flux-trapping measurements gave additional information concerning the magnetic induction distribution and also critical-current value in low magnetic fields. Anomalous behaviour of flux trapping for iron-doped YBCO samples has been observed.
