Summary

In this work, the Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3: CuO composite based on perovskite manganite-oxide have been prepared by solid reaction technology with sintering temperature of 1473 K. The samples are of single phase with orthorhombic structure of Pcmn (62) symmetry. By adding and varying the oxide composition in these compounds, not only the magnetization but also the magnetocaloric properties have been enhanced. From the measurement of isothermal magnetization around the Curie temperature, the maximum isothermal magnetic entropy change was calculated as 5.14 J/Kg.K at 5T for the 95%Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3+5%CuO composites. Furthermore, a large relative cooling power was about 232 J/Kg. These magnetocaloric properties make Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3:CuO composites an attractive candidate material for magnetic refrigeration application.
