Martensitic transformation in SUS 304L and 316L during tensile tests at low temperatures.

Author(s) : OGATA T., YURI T., ONO Y.

Summary

Changes of ferrite content of SUS 304L and SUS 316L during tensile tests were measured at room temperature to 4 K. The tensile tests were carried out in the helium gas environment below 77 K and in cooled alcohol above 190 K. The ferrite content was measured by ferrite scope at the specified strain. For SUS 304L, the amount of ferrite content increased with decreasing temperature down to 233 K, and it increased little below 233 K. At room temperature, it increased steeply after 20% plastic strain. For SUS 316L, it increased with decreasing temperature down to 4 K, it increased steeply after 60% plastic strain above 243 K.
