Summary

The use of ammonia in industrial applications must meet regulatory requirements for air and water pollution. The technical options for doing so are discussed, through analysis of the means of confining and retaining ammonia in the various parts of the plant. The features of such retaining capacities are then detailed, and options are proposed for existing plants. Mention is made of the basic role of human intervention in the event of any breakdown.
