Small, safe and efficient-low charge ammonia systems without pumps.

Author(s) : PEARSON S. F.

Summary

The author describes an ammonia refrigerating circuit in which the evaporator is overfed with expanded liquid using a distribution system; excess fluid is stored in a low-pressure receiver. The liquid in this receiver is used to subcool the condensed liquid leaving the condenser; this liquid then evaporates before being sucked into the compressor. The refrigerant charge required is low. Defrosting is easily performed by reversing the cycle.
