Summary

A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF A TEST BENCH WAS USED FOR DETERMINING THE SWEPT VOLUME OF ROTARY COMPRESSORS, AND THE RESULTS ARE GIVEN. IT IS SHOWN THAT, BY REDUCING THE EFFECT OF PULSATIONS WHEN THE FLUID FLOWS THROUGH THE OUTLET VALVE, IT IS POSSIBLE TO INCREASE BY MORE THAN 10 % THE SWEPT VOLUME OF A TYPE OF ROTARY COMPRESSOR. THE DECREASE IN THE EFFECT OF PULSATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY OPTIMIZING THE < TIME-SECTION > PARAMETERS OF THE OUTLET VALVE. THE AUTHORS ALSO STUDIED THE INFLUENCE OF THE INLET-ORIFICE DIAMETER AND OF THE VOLUME OF THE CHAMBER ABOVE THE VALVES ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE COMPRESSOR. A METHOD WHICH GIVES VALUABLE POSSIBILITIES OF PREDICTING AND OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE IS DEVELOPED. C.C.
