Methodology and follow-up of the teaching and learning process in heat transfer during 2018 and 2019.

Summary

Within the academic context of the University, the study programs, the students and the different subjects are continuously changing. Students from the first years in Bachelor degrees present low capacities of concentration and comprehension. For this reason, and furthermore in core subjects such as Heat Transfer, it is essential for the teachers to make a good planning and follow-up of the teaching and learning processes. This paper presents an analysis of the subject Heat Transfer during the academic course 2018-2019. A survey was carried out at the end of the semester. 40 out of 293 students answered, providing a valuable feedback. Although 30% of the students think that the theoretical lessons helped to deepen their knowledge, only 5% recommend dedicating more time to theoretical lessons, and none have consulted the extended bibliography. The teachers suggest nevertheless adding more theoretical questions in the evaluation, in order to promote studying the underlying physics, which will in turn help to reach a deep learning.
