Methods of refrigerating and air conditioning systems energetic efficiency evaluation.

Author(s) : HAVELSKÝ V.

Summary

This article deals with the problems of energy efficiency evaluation of various refrigerating and air-conditioning systems working on the principle of the thermodynamic cooling cycle. Equations of energy efficiency by the method of COP and primary energy rate (PER) determination are presented. It is shown that the method of energy efficiency evaluation by COP determination is not a satisfactory criteria for the systems mentioned because the different types of systems with different kinds of driving energy cannot be compared using the quantitative COP value. On the contrary, the PER determination method of energy efficiency can be used for comparison of any refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including combined energy systems for the simultaneous production of heat, cold and power.
